My sister Vivien made these little cabinets for Fred and me. She used black-and-white photos that I had taken in Düsseldorf and New York to decorate the wood, then sealed it with a thin transparent book foil.

These are exactly the kind of images I wanted to take and make that day.
Expression, location, look… the fabric was sort of transparent in reality. I didn’t mean to show anything, I just wanted it too look pure and light.
Something I said to Josh Meyers here: I see that dirt every day and have been wanting to go there. It was a deserty hot day out. What I wanted was place the white (as of very white skin) me in that environment wearing nothing fancy, just something to cover my body, and be out of reality.
Not my living room.
